Types of Incision

Horizontal incision: Directed along the margin of the gingiva in a mesial or a distal direction.

Types of horizontal incision:

Internal bevel incision: Incision from which flap is reflected to expose the underlying bone & root. Also called reverse bevel incision because its bevel is in reverse direction from that of gingivectomy incision.

Crevicular incision: It is made from base of pocket to crest of bone.

Interdental incision: This incision is made to separate the collar of gingiva that is left around the tooth

bullet

Vertical incision:Can be used on one / both ends of horizontal incision, depending on purpose & design of flap.
